Opinion: No excuses for Lampard and players

There will be no excuses for Frank Lampard this season as he will be under pressure to bring home a trophy at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea''s spendings this summer.

After been banned for two transfer windows, The Pensioners were unable to bring new faces to London club. New coach then, Frank Lampard depended heavily on young academy graduates for success.

The youngsters didn't disappoint, because a fourth place finish in the league and a place in FA cup final is a good achievement considering what's on board.

The ban was later reduced allowing Chelsea to secure the signature of American, Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund at the start of 2019/2020 campaign. The 21-year-old didn't disappoint as he show some amazing displays with 9 goals in 25 outings for Chelsea.

But this summer is much more different from last summer as a already looking to break the record set by Manchester City for biggest total spend by a Premier League club when Pep Guardiola spent a total of £223.8 million ahead of the 2017-18 season.

The Blues have completed the signings of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz and are still looking to add more signings.

The blues began the 2020/21 season on good note winning 3-1 against Brighton.
