Donny van de Beek now a Manchester United player after completing transfer from Ajax.

Manchester United have signed Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek on a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.

It was reported that the deal was completed yesterday 2nd Sept and will join up with his new team after the Nation league matches.

Van de Beek, 23, started his career at Ajax as young boy before making his senior debut in 2015.

The Netherlands international played a vital role as Ajax reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 and also 2017 Europa League which they lost in the final to Manchester United.

The Netherlands international contributed 49 goals 210 games before his move to United. He scored 10 and assisted 11 in the league last season.

“I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history", Donny van de Beek said:

“I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club.

“I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.

The midfielder will take up the number 34 as a tribute to his former teammate Abdelhak Nouri who collapsed during a pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen in 2017 and suffered permanent brain damage retiring him from the game at early stage.
