Ciro Immobile wins European golden shoe award. Equals Serie A season goal record

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has clinched the European golden boot title after scoring a total 36 league goals.

Immobile scored 36 goals in 36 league games this season and leads the charts, two ahead of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and six ahead of Ronaldo who is in third.

The 30-year-Old Immobile, equalled the all time highest goalscorer in a single Serie A season; tie with Gonzalo Higuain on 36 goals.

Robert Lewandowski was in the pole position to win the award with 34 goals only for Immobile to overtake him with an impressive run of form late in the season.

Four time winner, Cristiano Ronaldo came third after a hard fought battle with the Lazio striker for the award.

Immobile led the Italian top scorer chart for a long time only to be caught up with by Ronaldo after scoreless run. But his penalty against Juventus and hattrick against Hellas Verona moved him clear off his challenger.
