Newcastle United Owner still confident of Saudi deal

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has confirmed his is still confident of Newcastle United takeover by Saudi group despite the deal report collapsing.

The Saudi group were meant to purchase 80% of Newcastle United shares but pulled out of the deal citing uncertainty in the current codiv-19 pandemic around the world.

Lee Charnley, Newcastle's managing director, released a statement on Friday on behalf of Ashley saying;

"We acknowledge the statement issued on Thursday. Never say never but to be clear Mike Ashley is 100 per cent committed to this deal," Charnley said.

"However our current focus must now be on supporting Steve Bruce in the transfer market and on the preparations for the new season."
